Celebrating Milestones
HVMC celebrated its 11th anniversary on 9th July 2023, with invited guests from Trinity Annual Conference (TRAC) and ACS (International), a special choir item, a souvenir mug, lots of cupcakes and a birthday cake.
TRAC President, Reverend Stanley Chua, delivered the sermon on Jeremiah 29:11, with the message that God has promised us a future and a hope, even if life is difficult.
After the service, there was definitely an HVMC community spirit in the air, as we bonded over cake, ice-cream and freshly popped corn. Said Amber Goh, who serves in the Worship Ministry, "The choir item, songs and sermon linked well and were special." Martin Chee thought the sermon delivered a strong message which was timely, and he also loved the popcorn.
Mun Kwok On, our Local Church Executive Committee (LCEC) Chairperson, was reminded of Psalm 127:1, that unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain. He added that this community is an expression of the body of Christ here on earth, for us to live out the biblical truths, such as being encouraging, praying and submitting to each other. Even as the church celebrates its 11th anniversary, we are reminded to use the gifts of the Holy spirit. "We are to bear the fruit of the spirit as we walk the spiritual journey together as a church community," said Kwok On.

Mosaic@HVMC, our church newsletter, also commemorated its 10th anniversary on the same day, with a 2-page flyer tracing how the newsletter has evolved over the years, with QR Codes to selected past milestone issues and articles. Read it here.
Two members of the Mosaic editorial team share their thoughts:-
I feel privileged to have served as a part of the Mosaic editorial team. It has been an incredible 10-year journey, working alongside such talented and dedicated individuals. The opportunity to connect with people and communicate our Church’s vision and values through the written word has been truly rewarding. Thank you for this remarkable experience. Happy 10th Anniversary!

I can’t help but be amazed at how the Lord has guided Mosaic over these ten years to do His work through the written word. From the black and white Village News to the multi-coloured print issue with feature articles and a range of themes contributed by members from different age groups, to even traversing language boundaries with Mandarin translation, to the current bite-sized social media posts and blogs. In whatever form our newsletter has taken, and however wide the reach to capture the voices and events of our church family, in all things, they point to the one constant - the Living Word Himself. Christ is the one who has placed us in this mosaic that He has so beautifully designed. He is the cornerstone in whom “the whole building is joined together” (Ephesians 2:20).
