A New Meaning to Campfire!

From 9th to 12th June, a total of 38 HVMC youths and students from ACS (International) attended the first ever combined youth camp themed: “Hearts on Fire!” Our speaker, Wayne Sim, focussed on the subject of the Holy Spirit and how we can walk in step with Him. Below are some of the testimonies from the youths, whose hearts were truly lit on fire by the Holy Spirit. All glory to our God!

The camp was fun, but also very hectic as I was part of the logistics committee and I really appreciate all those who helped make it possible! God really spoke  to me through the sermons by Wayne Sim, and I'm now more willing to let the Holy Spirit guide and teach me.

Joshua Xie (HVMC)

I really enjoyed it because it helped me grow closer to God; I felt God’s presence as we spent every day with the mindfulness of God.  I also made a lot of new friends and improved my bonds with current friends. Many thanks to those who helped set up the camp – it was definitely not easy to handle 38 kids.

Elizabeth Khor (HVMC)

The camp was amazing! I was super encouraged to see so many more youths this year - God has really expanded the youth worship team and I'm excited to see how much bigger He'll expand us next year. God was really speaking to me and everything was just so relevant to the current situation in my life. It was also very touching to witness the Holy Spirit moving in the others too. This year, I was in the worship committee and really enjoyed helping out.

Candra Xie (HVMC)

This camp's highlight was the Amazing Race. It lasted a whole day and I managed to bond with my friends from my life group, as we went around Singapore. Also, when we had the altar call, I felt God calling me,  and I didn't hesitate- I just went up.

Xavier Mah (HVMC)

I had a great experience and  learnt many things that I never knew before. The sermon helped me understand how God works in us. This camp has made me rethink my faith as a Christian, and helped me understand where and why I was stuck.

Owen Khouw (HVMC & ACS International)

What a fun experience - the highlights were the moments I could spend with my friends learning about God, and joining the Amazing Race. During worship, I really felt like my heart was on fire, and when the Speaker invited us to come up to the front, I felt that God was telling me to go. Overall, the camp really strengthened my bond with God and has helped me become a better Christian.

Noah Loh (HVMC & ACS International)

There were many moments that I will treasure forever; however the highlight was definitely the Amazing Race, where I bonded with my group. Overall, I felt that God had given me a sign to go to this camp to learn more about Him. It has definitely given me a better insight on Christianity, and has strengthened my faith.

Isaac Wang (ACS International)

I honestly enjoyed listening to Mr Sim share his own experiences, as he grew in his walk with God. His teachings were relatable and easy to understand, and  really inspired me.

Evelyn Ong (ACS International)

It was a very meaningful and enjoyable experience, and enabled me to grow closer to God. During the many worship sessions, I felt a strong connection to Him, which was something I had not really experienced before.

Nicholas Phun (ACS International)

I felt that God was telling me to attend this camp despite my initial reluctance as I needed to revise for my prelims, but I left feeling revitalized. I now aim to live a more Godly life and have acquired more confidence in teaching my friends about the Word.

Elliott Koh (ACS International)

I learned to surrender to God, knowing He will help me, and through the Holy Spirit,  guide me to do the right things. We can also connect with God by making time with Him, because He will always be there for us.

Andris Lee (HVMC & ACS International)

It was definitely an eye-opening and a memorable experience for me, and I could feel God's presence with me. Despite my hectic schedule preparing for my ‘O’ Levels, I am still grateful I attended this camp, not only because of the  new friends I made, but also because I was able to learn more about God. As someone who used to have a wavering faith in God, the sermons really spoke to me, and have helped to anchor my faith in Christ.

Abbie Chang (HVMC)

This camp certainly lived up to its theme, for my faith was truly rejuvenated.  It was also such a privilege to share this experience with the other youths.  Even though it was for only four days, I’m sure this wonderful time spent will leave a lifelong impact on my journey with God.

Karik Cheng (HVMC  & ACS International)

I learnt so much at youth camp, not just about God but also about myself - I encountered God specifically during the altar call and attending camp was the best decision I made this year. One takeaway I had was that when I pray to God, I have to listen and let Him respond to me, as talking to God goes both ways. I am looking forward to my spiritual walk with Jesus.

Arielle Loh (HVMC & ACS International)

With so many more youths this year, we had the opportunity to meet and grow closer to others, as well as to God. I pray that more youths will sign up for next year's camp and experience God in amazing ways.
