Women in Action for God

HVMC WSCS EXCO Members 2022 — 2024

HVMC’s Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) celebrated its 10th anniversary with the Annual General Meeting on 20 August 2022, its very first physical meeting since the start of Covid-19.

The 27 ladies who attended were blessed by Pastor Jeremy Ong’s sharing on “Remembering Joy” based on Psalm 51:12. Knowing the true joy of salvation is like discovering ice cream for the first time. We will want more of the same experience when we discover the quality of God in our lives. That triggers the rejuvenation of service.  However, we will be hit with the reality of sin as we serve, and we have to learn to be real in our faith. To reach out, we must have the humility to recognise our own sins.

Thank you for serving

WSCS’s theme for next year is “Raising the Next Generation in God’s Way”, and in this regard, we need to recognise our own transgressions first, and be conscious that God loves a broken and contrite heart, not our outward sacrifices. We can then be authentic to the next generation, as we share the joy of salvation with them.

The Church needs to be weak to be strong. Like the Israelites, they were strongest when they lived in exile, under oppression and fighting with minimum resources. Learn to be strong and recognise power in weakness.

The sermon was followed by games, where the ladies shared about themselves and what they wanted WSCS to be. Our WSCS President, Imelda Fyffe, chaired the meeting which started with reports and ended with a smooth election. She thanked the previous executive committee members for their hard work, despite the pandemic challenges.

We look forward to a new season of women serving with joy! Join us for our upcoming events:

  1. Prayer Self Denial Week and Closing Service 11 Sept 2022

  2. HVMC Thanksgiving Event 4 Dec 2022
