Love for the Lost

As I reflect on what our Lord Jesus Christ did on the cross over 2,000 years ago, my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude for His incredible love and grace. The salvation that God offers us was part of a marvellous and divine plan, but it came at a great cost. God the Father gave up His only Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from sin and eternal separation from Him.

John 3:16 reminds us of this great love: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” This verse captures the heart of the Gospel - God’s selfless love for all humanity. Jesus, though innocent and sinless, took on the punishment that we deserved. His sacrifice on the cross was the ultimate act of love and obedience to the Father, paving the way for our reconciliation with God.

Holy Week is not just a time to remember the events of the past; it is a time to renew our faith and commitment to God.

As we enter Holy Week, it is an opportunity to reflect deeply on this sacrifice and to turn our hearts toward Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Holy Week is not just a time to remember the events of the past; it is a time to renew our faith and commitment to God. Romans 5:8: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” reminds us that salvation is not something we can earn through good deeds, human effort or knowledge. It is a gift of grace that we receive through faith in Christ alone.

Let this truth humble us. No matter how much we achieve or how good we try to be, it is only through the grace of God and the sacrifice of Jesus that we are saved. This salvation is not the end but the beginning of a new life. God saved us for a purpose: to worship Him, to follow Him as disciples, and to glorify Him in all that we do.

We are called to reflect His light and love

Being saved also comes with a mission. Jesus calls us to be His witnesses in the world, to share His love and to bring the message of hope to those who are lost, forgotten, or in need. Matthew 5:14 clearly states our role in His kingdom: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect His light and love. Let us use this Holy Week to draw closer to Him, to deepen our relationship with Him, and to commit ourselves to living as His disciples. Let us worship Him wholeheartedly, serve others selflessly, and share the Gospel boldly.

May this Holy Week inspire us to remember the depth of Christ’s sacrifice and to live in a way that brings honour to His name. Let us shine His light brightly, reaching the lost and bringing glory to God.
