Engaging Our Youth

Baking activity (4 June)

Our Youth Ministry launched its inaugural Saturday Youth Service on 4 June 2022 (2.30pm to 5.30pm) at the John Wesley Hall, situated on Level 6 of the Sports Block, with a good attendance of 20.

The service started with live worship by Kah Hoe (worship leader & guitarist), Faith (worship leader), Theophilus (keyboardist) and Karik (cajon player). This was followed by an awesome Bible lesson, led by Kevin, from 1 Kings: 17-19 on Elijah's experience of raw emotions - his highs and lows, victories and perceived defeat – which helped to address the fears and anxieties the youths may experience from time to time.

To dive deeper into the nuggets of truth from God's Word, the youths were assigned to Life / Discussion Groups facilitated by adult leaders. Questions were posed for them to consider, ponder, and answer, in order to help enhance their insights, and provide takeaways from the lesson.

The service concluded with a much-anticipated baking activity aligned with the Bible lesson on Elijah being fed with bread by the ravens and a widow. At first, the youths had some reservations about baking but once they got their hands in it, their creativity knew no boundaries.

"Can You Create a Storm?" (6 August)

Subsequent Saturday Youth Services were held on 2 July (“The Father's Heart of God”) and 6 August (“Overcoming Storms in Our Lives”), led by Benjamin and Alex respectively. The youths were geared up for the activity, "Can you create a storm?" which had an element of competition among the groups. Both sessions witnessed the acting skills of the youths: they really could act!

To God be the glory!
