A Decade of God’s Grace

There was a palpable air of excitement as 284 people gathered at HVMC on Sunday 3rd July 2022.  Many of them had been worshipping online all this time, but on this day, they showed up in full force, to offer thanks for the Church’s 10th anniversary, and to celebrate together at the catered lunch – it was indeed a very blessed occasion.

Invited guests included Mr & Mrs Tan Wah Thong, Mr Gavin Kinch, Mr Chia Choong Kiat, Mr Kristopher Joseph Achter, Mr Kim Seah, Mr Henry Tan, Mr Wee Cheng Hoon, Dr Cheah Fung Fong as well as some of the former pastors of HVMC. Everyone received an HVMC umbrella.  Another gift, which was lovingly crafted to commemorate this milestone anniversary, was the special edition of MOSAIC, which told the story of our Church, tracing its growth, from its early days as a Preaching Point.

Before the sermon, our Filipino sisters expressed their gratitude for God’s goodness and faithfulness, by giving us a beautiful rendition of ‘We are an Offering’.  TRAC President Reverend Stanley Chua then took to the stage to expound on ‘Why We Need Each Other’ taken from John 17:1-26, a very pertinent subject indeed, as HVMC enters the next decade, hopefully without the spectre of Covid still limiting in-person worship.  He emphasized that we, at HVMC, must stand together, as it is Jesus’ desire and will for us as His disciples to live in community, so that we can be there for each other.

It had been more than two years since we broke bread together; what had been a routine event after every communion Sunday, is now an aberration – thus, it was simply surreal to see lines of people queuing to be served!  And to be able to sit together sharing a meal too!  What joy…what a privilege!

God has been, and is, faithful to HVMC and as a community of believers, we look forward to seeing His work in the coming years.  With His grace, we hope to see our Church grow, as we continue to build up and reach out to every generation.
